SCF signed up to CLOCS

24th November 2020

At the beginning of this year SCF signed up to the CLOCS (Construction Logistics and Community Safety) standard on all of its construction sites. CLOCS, quite simply, aims to improve the management of construction related traffic on its way to and from sites to reduce accidents.

The SCF team congratulates Sir Robert McAlpine on being awarded CLOCS Outstanding Champion –  here’s Paul Smith from Sir Robert McAlpine with the certificate,  in a setting familiar to most of us this year, rather than at a ceremonial presentation that this achievement  surely merits.

Paul Smith, Willem Fourie and colleagues have put SRM staff through CLOCS training, raised awareness of CLOCS with a letter from their Chief Executive to 100 clients, contributed to  CLOCS City Inspiration events and created a CLOCS approved Site Access Traffic Marshal  training course – and more.

SRM are now rolling out this activity across all  its business and across all regions.   Once again, congratulations to all at SRM who have made this happen.

SCF arranged special training in 2019 to help contractors improve training opportunities for Site Access Traffic Marshals. Kingsley Clarke, Operational Lead for SCF in the South West said

‘SCF signed up to CLOCS at the beginning of the year and have been working closely with contractors to introduce the standard across our sites. Sir Robert McAlpine has demonstrated just how seriously our contractors take this important initiative and what can be achieved when we work together. I look forward to seeing more good news stories like this in the future, and of course the meaningful impact  of reduced numbers of traffic related deaths and accidents that occur on public highways around or on route to and from construction sites.’
